Understanding How Dental Insurance Works

You pay a certain amount of money each month – known as a premium – to continue to receive dental coverage. Your insurance company will cover specific procedures up to a certain percentage until you meet your annual maximum for the year. Unlike medical insurance, dental insurance focuses less on emergency situations and more on preventive care; it’s structured in a way to encourage you to seek dental care before any major oral health issues occur.

What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers

Dental insurance companies all have their own rules about the coverage they provide, but a lot of them do follow the same lines when it comes to the benefits they provide. Preventive services are usually covered at or near 100%, basic restorations like fillings get around 70% to 80% coverage, and more extensive care is usually between 50% and 60% coverage. None of this is guaranteed; you should never begin any sort of treatment without first confirming your benefits with your insurance carrier.

Our In-Network PPO Dental Insurance Providers

Being in-network for a PPO dental insurance provider means we can give you the opportunity to save even more money when you choose our dental office. Being in-network means that all services are provided at pre-negotiated rates, which are often lower than what you would pay otherwise. Of course, even if we are not currently in-network with your specific insurance, you’re still welcome at our dental office, and we’ll do everything we can to maximize your reimbursement.
